We finished our visit in Berlin by touring Siemens Professional Education Center. Siemens is one of the world's largest high-tech manufacturing corporations focusing on electrical, mechanical, and computer engineering = called mechatronic systems. The top picture is of students showing us how they made a machine to produce the production of eye drops. Students can apply for an apprenticeship at the age of 16 and if accepted, they receive a dual education: vocational school paid for by the state and employment by the company. Unemployment is extremely low because students are educated and trained at the same time, and then hired by the company. Their focus is TEAMWORK - working together on projects and problem solving.
We flew today on AirBerlin to Stuttgart, Germany. The weather is warmer and it is absolutely beautiful here. I will be touring schools beginning tomorrow. Stay tuned!
